Set: BX483

With the Buxton tracks having been temporary slewed for the Hazel Grove chord, two Buxton allocated BRC&W class 104 dmu's, BX484 (left) and BX483 (right, presumably with 53491 closest), with their white trademark cab roofs pass each other, working the Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton services on 16th November 1985. With the Buxton tracks having been temporary slewed, two Buxton allocated BRC&W class 104 dmu's are about to pass each other, working the Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton services on 30th November 1985. The cord track bed is now in place it wont be long before the track on the cord is in place as well, providing a link between the old Midland Rly that crosses the bridge and the L&NW Rly, an idea that was first proposed in 1902, the cord opened for traffic on the 12th May 1986. BX488 presumably contains 53542 59144 53598. Andrew J Crowther.

BX497, a 3 car Buxton allocated Derby built class 108 dmu with a class 104 center car (comprising M51950 + M59155 + M52062) leaves Hazel Grove with a Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton working on 17th May 1986. Andrew J Crowther.

Hazel Grove High Level - travelling towards New Mills South Junction on part the ex-through Midland Main Line, Manchester Central to London St Pancras now freight only in these parts, we're travelling on the RCTS railtour "Mancunian Railtour" which was made up of 2 Metro-Cammell 2 car dmu's on 30th August 1986. The line trailing is the then new Hazel Grove Cord linking the ex LNWR and MR lines, which had only opened to traffic 4 months earlier on the 29/04/86. Andrew J Crowther.

After working a peak hour Manchester Piccadilly-Chinley via Marple service, 'Spa Line' branded former Buxton class 108 power cars, now Chester allocated set CH378 (presumably with 51948 closest) return direct ecs to Longsight depot, decend the Hazel Grove Cord which opened to traffic a few years earlier on the 12th May 1986, to provide a link between the old Midland Rly and the L&NW Rly. 16th June 1989.
